Fountain People was responsible for the Qubein Arena Panther Fountain at High Point University. It is a project that has been a great success. The 6-m (20-ft), bronze sculpture of a Panther is featured on the exterior circular tiered Fountain. The fountain features cascading waters from the upper to lower basins. LED lights illuminate this spectacle.
Project Overview
The Qubein Arena Panther Fountain, a circular tiered exterior fountain located at High Point University’s Qubein Arena & Conference Center in North Carolina. The project is part of an overall $170 million development, which includes the arena and conference center, as well as a hotel. The university wanted to create a piece of art that would inspire and engage fans, students and visitors while also aligning itself with its values.
Brian Keith is an artist who specializes in fine art sculptures. He was responsible for the design and creation. Brian Keith Fine Art worked closely with the customer to ensure the design met his requirements and preferences. LKC Engineering represented by Robert Hayter, Lou Sadler and Lou Sadler provided engineering expertise, worked on the details of the project and designed two additional fountains flanking the panther fountain.
Smith & Jennings, Inc., a full service grading firm founded in 1947, was responsible for the construction, architectural finishing, management, as well as mounting the sculpture. Pfists, Inc. of Douglasville, Ga. specializes in fountain installation. Pfists Inc. has worked on many other fountains throughout the High Point University Campus.
