PHTA Welcomes Public Comments on Revisions to Standard for Residential Inground Pools

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance is inviting public review and comments on revisions to the ANSI/APSP/ICC-5 2011 (R2022) American National Standard for Residential Inground Swimming Pools. The standard in development will be the PHTA/ICC-5 Standard for Residential Inground Swimming Pools. Public review is an important part of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards consensus development process.

This standard applies to permanently installed residential inground swimming pools intended for noncommercial use as a swimming pool by not more than three owner families and their guests and exceeding 24 inches (61 centimeters) in water depth. This standard covers specifications for new construction and remodeling of residential inground swimming pools and includes design, equipment, operation, and installation.

The following individuals serve as Members on the PHTA-5 Standard Writing Committee (SWC):

PHTA invites all pool, spa, and hot tub professionals, as well as non-industry members, to review the draft and submit comments for consideration. The ANSI public review announcement on the required 45-day public review period was published in the ANSI Standards Action on February 9, 2024. All public review comments on the PHTA/ICC-5 Standard are due by March 25, 2024.
