Parrain Marble has been the
building block of choice among the
Mediterranean locals for decades upon
decades. Specifically, the combination of
calcium carbonate and acidic oxide has
crafted the domed homes and hotels
on the island of Paros, one of the many
islands that sits in the Greek Aegean Sea.

Designed by Tense Architecture
Network, Avant Mar aims to be both
hospitable and luxurious to its guests.
The hotel consists of cubic prisms
and circular volumes that stand in
opposition to the natural greenery of
the surrounding beach. In order to
connect the two opposing settings,
a 55-meter-long swimming pool was
placed in between them.

The design team opted for a natural-toned
color palette for the pool and
surrounding areas, reminiscent of the
Cycladic style. White, tan, blue and
green hues adorn the floors, pergolas,
restaurant, pool and spa. The swimming
pool further connects the hotel to the
sea with an elongated, glass ramp. The
spa is concealed indoors, in a circular
oasis of relaxation. A promenade, which
starts at the main entrance, offers visitors
a panoramic view of the sparkling blue
ocean all throughout the hotel.
