Matt Gillam is the residential BDM at Brauer Industries and he’s putting together a Shitbox Rally team that will be held later this year.
This rally is a fun and worthwhile fundraiser for Cancer Council. The swimming pool industry has embraced it. Allans Pool Shop participated in the rally last year, with help from sponsors Lo-Chlor Chemicals & Hayward Industries.
The Shitbox Rally, however, is not a race. It’s a challenge. You can travel across Australia in a Shitbox car, via some of the most difficult roads and remote communities.
This year Gillam will lead a team along the challenging roads of the Aussie Outback. The team will travel from the Queensland coast all the way to Adelaide, the capital of South Australia.
Gillam says, “In October, my great friend Adam and I will be Team DubbelPluggas, and we’ll be participating in Shitbox Rally to raise valuable funds for Cancer Council.”
This rally will see 500 participants driving their Shitbox, an 1986 Holden Camira Wagon (worth up $1500), from Port Douglas down to Adelaide.
The Cancer Council is aiming to raise $2,000,000 for cancer research in the country.
Since 2009, the Cancer Council of Australia has received more than 35 million dollars.
He says that the first challenge is for his team to raise at least $5000. We’re aiming for $10,000 so we would greatly appreciate your support.
You can support Team DubbelPluggas in the following ways:
- Sponsoring the team for car and website branding
- Tax deductible donations

He says, “We plan to film along the way and provide content for social media. We have also already started a page on Facebook.”
