The Save Our VAC pool fund has now crossed $23,000.
The pool is part of a large reconstruction of the centre by the city starting in 2026. However, the new pool will be half the size of the current 50 m (164 ft) pool, which is the last Olympic-sized swimming pool in the city.
The Vancouver Aquatic Centre was built as a public recreational facility in 1974 in the city’s West end. Construction on the new building is expected to last until 2029, and the current cost estimate is $175 million.
