(SARASOTA FL.) – James “Jim” Batts was reappointed to Florida Building Commission.
Governor Ron DeSantis announced Batts and ten others to the Commission on February 17,. Governor Rick Scott first appointed Batts to the Commission in 2013.
Batts stated, “I am grateful to have been reappointed to this Commission for another term.” It is an honor to represent the swimming pool industry and make sure that Florida’s Building Code works in our favor and benefits all Florida residents, businesses, visitors, and tourists.
Batts is President of The Batts Company. This pool construction and remodeling company serves the northeast Florida area. He is currently a member of the Florida Swimming Pool Association. He is currently a member of the Contractor’s Review Board of St. Johns County and has served as Chairman.
Dallas Thiesen (FSPA Senior Director for Government Affairs) said, “We are delighted that Jim was reappointed” His knowledge and experience is unparalleled in the construction of swimming pools and spas.
Batts is the only representative of the pool industry on the Commission. The Florida Building Commission is responsible on a triennial base for the adoption and updating of the Florida building Code.

The Florida Swimming Pool Association (FLA) is a trade organization for the spa and pool industry in Florida. The state has approximately 750 members in 16 chapters. The code of ethics is enforced and members must be licensed and insured. FSPA offers continuing education courses, information about current trends, government relations representation, an arbitration program, and access to information. FSPA is managed by a Board.
