According to a study, Florida is a contender for the top spot in the U.S. pool safety list 2022.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), recently launched a “Pool Safely”, campaign. It used data from a collaboration between Total Aquatic Programming (a consultant in aquatic facilities) and the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, (NPDA), which revealed the highest number of drowning cases related to spas and pools in 2022.

The 2022 figure of 170 drowning children in spas or pools was an 11 percent drop over the 2021 number. Florida was close behind Arizona with 21 drownings. Texas was third with 20 drownings.

The campaign “Pool Safely,” encourages families to reaffirm their responsibility for water safety in 2023. Simple tactics include being there at all times when a child swims, giving lessons to children, making sure that drain covers are installed and that spas and pools have drainage covers.
