EvoHeat quadruples space at new purpose-built Brisbane premises

EvoHeat has moved to larger purpose-built premises in the booming new industrial area of Bundamba, in Brisbane’s western suburbs.

General manager Tim Martin says the move was essential as the company was expanding well in excess of the capability of their previous facility at Seventeen Mile Rocks.

The $3.5 million dollar facility consists of 3000 square meters of floor space, compared to the 700 square meters they had previously.

“For the past ten years we’d been operating from out Seventeen Mile Rock facility,” says Martin.

“Over that time we’ve had significant growth across all the business units in our group. So we saw the need to expand and build a purpose-built facility that can cater for the growth we expect of the next five to 10 years.

“We’ve got more than four times the warehouse space, more than double the office space and enormous capabilities to satisfy the needs of the markets across all the group’s businesses and operations.”

Martin says that when he joined the group in 2017, they only had six or seven employees across the entire business.

“We had an office space of about 100 square meters because we were leasing the back half of our premises which was about 250 or 300 square meters. In 2018 we reclaimed our entire warehouse, all 700 meters. Then before we knew it, we’re upwards of 45 employees and huge amounts of stock turning over.

“So we needed the space. We needed it two years ago.”

The state-of-the-art facility includes 40 kilowatts of solar PV on the roof, heat pump hot water systems throughout, and energy efficient appliances including LED lighting throughout.

It also includes electric vehicle charging stations.

“We’ve built this facility for the next five to 10 years – we certainly see this as a mid to long term facility for us. And our office space gives us the room to expand, to almost double our staffing levels from where they are now.”

The extra space will enable the business to expand across all their businesses which includes pool heating as well as domestic hot water, commercial hot water and cogeneration and heat recovery.

“We were really hamstrung to an extent with our with our space at 17 Mile Rocks,” he says. “We weren’t able to put on more staff because we just didn’t have room for them. Even since we moved in, we’ve appointed two additional staff. And we were on a bit of a recruitment drive now to be able to capitalise on the opportunities that we were probably prohibited from being able to do sheerly because of our physical limitations on space.”
