Deckorators Set to Open New Facility in Buffalo Area

Deckorators,  the leading composite decking brand of UFP Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: UFPI) has announced today the plans for a new production facility in Lackawanna, N.Y., a suburb of Buffalo.

“This new campus will initially double our capacity for Surestone technology with space to continue expansion in the coming years,” says Ryan Kemp, Deckorators’ recently appointed executive vice president.Ryan Kemp.

This new facility represents an investment of approximately $70M (excluding real estate and renovation). Once completed, the site will cover roughly 30-acres – with two buildings providing some 240,000 sq ft of manufacturing space – to form a state-of-the-art campus. Scheduled to open Q4 of 2025, the campus is expected to create 50 new jobs in 2026, spanning a variety of roles from production support, logistics, and administrative representatives. The preliminary site work will begin in April 2025.

Surestone technology utilizes crushed limestone, offering remarkable heat resistance, an industry-leading strength-to-weight ratio, superior slip resistance, and minimal thermal expansion or contraction. With a warranty that covers installation in both ground and water, Surestone materials are designed to endure the elements, ensuring long-lasting durability and peace of mind. Additionally, Surestone’s natural wood-grain textures and rich color palette allow for easy customization, making it an ideal choice for personalized outdoor living spaces.

“We are pleased to welcome Deckorators to Erie County,” says Erie County Industrial Development Agency President and CEO John Cappellino. “The 50 jobs this project will create, and the more than $77 million they are investing into their new operation in Lackawanna, make Deckorators a major contributor to improving economic growth in Western New York. ECIDA incentives help keep Erie County competitive in the global competition for these types of jobs, and we thank Deckorators for choosing Lackawanna for their new expansion.”

Surestone technology powers the following Deckorators products: Voyage Decking, Summit Decking, Vault Decking, Picture Frame Deck Board, and Fascia.

“In addition to placing more manufacturing power closer to some of our strategic markets, the new facility will also reduce redundancy in manufacturing sites for our Surestone technology as we look to bolster our business continuity plans. Our new site will initially double our capacity for Surestone technology with space to continue expansion in the coming years,” says Kemp.

Product collections featuring Deckorators’ Surestone decking are low-maintenance and backed by industry-leading warranties.
