The pool industry’s lifeblood is made up of service technicians, dealers, and builders. These professionals are the ones who help homeowners understand their pools and how they can be maintained. They help homeowners enjoy their pool for many years.

One manufacturer in the industry helps its dealers expand their business with its Pentair partner centre. The company celebrates them by sharing stories about some of its key dealers partners, like Lynn White, and the inspirational work they do to promote the pool industry.

White, the owner of Water Works Pool & Spa, Tuscaloosa (Ala.), is an entrepreneur. She took over her family’s pool business when she was 24. She shares her experiences and offers advice to other women in the industry.

Lynn White’s story

Zippia found that only 11% of pool installers were women. This makes White’s success even more satisfying for women like her.

By staying true to her beliefs, she blazed her own path in the pool industry. She is a 38-year veteran of the pool industry and learned how to run a business from an early age after taking over her father’s business.

White reflects back on her success as Water Works Pool & Spa nears 40 years of existence. It is evident that her strong work ethic, dedication to her customers and employees, and willingness to treat them with respect allow her to overcome any obstacles in her way. White recognizes that there is more opportunity to be successful in the pool industry as a woman than any other.

Women working in the pool industry

White was expected to demonstrate to customers that she understood the industry from the beginning. White was frustrated by male coworkers asking her questions rather than giving her an opportunity to address or respond to problems. White has dealt with difficult customers in the past. However, she can assure you that she will respond positively to any negative comments. White makes it a point of treating every customer with respect, no matter how unpleasant or pleasant, and she has built her business around these values.

Lynn says, “It was difficult to not internalize little comments throughout my years, but it was clear that I couldn’t dwell upon them.” To other women in the pool industry: Keep your head high and focus on growing your business, despite any challenges.

White has learned how to overcome obstacles and run her business successfully over the years. White shares these four principles with professionals who want to grow their business and navigate the highly competitive pool industry.
