As demand for pools, spas, and hot tubs grows, a consumer should look to hire a professional who has the skills and training needed to manage and maintain the complexities of building, installing, maintaining, or servicing pools, spas, or hot tubs.

In fact, in a recent Pool Owners Attitudes & Perceptions Consumer Survey conducted by M/A/R/C Research, 96 per cent of consumers agreed that it was extremely important or somewhat important to have a certified professional building their pool.

This shows that homeowners are looking for a certification or designation as a seal of approval for choosing the contractor to build or maintain their investment.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) offers 11 professional certifications for service and operations, retail, and building and design:

  • Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO)
  • Certified Pool & Spa Maintenance Specialist (CMS)
  • Certified Pool & Spa Service Technician (CST)
  • Certified Pool & Spa Service Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Hot Tub Technician (CHTT)
  • Certified Pool & Spa Inspector (CPI)
