Leslie’s is a direct to consumer brand in the U.S. Pool and Spa Care Industry. It urges consumers to stop using chlorinating tablet sold on Amazon or other marketplaces by third-party sellers under imported brand names that originate from China and other nations.
The products are not labeled with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) required label, which could harm swimmers, the environment and pool equipment.
The imported chlor tablets are sold by the following brands: Adevit, Wisive, Lonko5Ding, Flyjoy and Ghantoy.
The U.S. EPA protects people and the environment against significant health risks. It sponsors and conducts research and develops and enforces environmental regulations.
According to the U.S. Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, sanitizing tablets, such as the chlorinating tablet used in swimming pool – one of the most commonly used pool sanitizers in the country – must be registered with U.S. EPA and labeled with an EPA registration, an EPA Establishment number, and name of manufacturer or distributor.
The brand names above are sold currently in 25-mm (1-in. The above brand names are currently sold in 25.4″ (1-in.) and 76.2″ (3-in.). The EPA does not require the labeling of tablets that come in 1.2, 2.3 and 3.6 kg (2.65, 5 and 8 lb) packaging. Pool owners shouldn’t assume that these products are safe or free of harmful contaminants without the EPA label.
Leslie’s encourages pool users to carefully read all labels when buying any pool sanitizer products or chemicals.
Leslie’s CEO Mike Egeck says, “We are supporting the EPA’s efforts to ensure that pool products are safe to use by consumers. We want to make sure all pool owners know about these potentially harmful products, so that we can ensure the upcoming swim season in 2023 is safe for everyone.”
