The Schaise: A David Hockney-inspired Pool Lounge Chair

Smarin, a French design company, has just launched a new line of pool lounge chairs. It is inspired by the artwork of David Hockney, an internationally renowned artist whose work revolves around swimming pools. His painting “Portrait Of An Artist (Pool With Two Figures),” which was sold at auction in New York City for $90 million, was one of the most valuable pieces of art ever sold at an auction.

In 2003, Stephanie Marin, a designer, founded Smarin. Since then, she has created and produced sustainable and accessible projects, including textiles, space planning, set designs, and furniture. The projects are made in Nice but have been a worldwide hit. Smarin is a specialist in high-end furniture. They collaborate with artists, designers and many other creative people to create new designs. Smarin’s mission, which was achieved when it launched the Schaise, is to provide furniture made from durable and natural materials.

Because of its ergonomic and flexible design, the Schaise pool lounge chair collection encourages better postures and blood circulation. They are made of steel, epoxy paint, and fabric elastic straps. This makes them comfortable to sit in, and light enough to be moved around on warm summer days. Marin paired the chairs and a floor lamp with a circular light disc that is supported by three black legs.

Marin answered questions about Schaise’s design and said that she was focused on the body’s feeling. She designed a seat that is unrestrained. Marin says, “The mechanics and movements of the body is an important matter to me.” Marin says that this is why the furniture is so minimalist. Instead of adapting to the body, the chairs are designed to follow the chair.

Hockney used the Schaise chairs’ vivid and soft colors of yellow, white, yellow, and pink to embellish many of her swimming pool paintings in the 1960s and 1970s. Marin was invited by The Centre Pompidou Boutique, Paris, to display her collection in 2017.

Hockney says that he thinks it may be the space between the photos. Hockney is referring to the success of his work on CBS This Morning. You don’t know what makes things memorable. There would be many more formulas for them if there were.
