Pool & Hot Tub Alliance Reveals Updated Strategic Plan to Elevate Standards and Drive Growth


A new plan that focuses on the three core principles Educate Elevate and Advocate

(Alexandria) – The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance, the largest national trade association for the $62 billion pool, spa, and hot tub industry, unveiled today its updated strategic plan. The plan, which will guide PHTA for several years, is intended to give the organization a clear focus and direction. This will allow PHTA members to be more satisfied and engaged.

PHTAmembers can increase their skill through the association. This includes comprehensive education, advocacy for a more favorable business environment, and increased consumer awareness about the benefits and values of aquatic experiences.


Education is at the forefront of investing in excellence

The updated plan places a high priority on education. It aims to provide pool and hot-tub professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing market. The key initiatives include:

  • Expanded Education Platform: Development and implementation of an online platform that is user-friendly, affordable, and offers industry-specific resources.
  • Enhanced Training Programmes: Increase the number of professionals skilled by 30% via expanded apprenticeship programs and certification training tracks.
  • Knowledge Sharing for Successful: Introduce members to innovative techniques, tools, and research insights beyond the jobsite to optimize business operations and maximize efficiency. Stay ahead of the curve.


Protecting and Promoting Aquatic Activity

The plan emphasizes advocacy and focuses on initiatives to improve or impact regulatory environments. It also promotes industry best practices and contributes to the overall growth of the industry:

  • Strengthening Advocacy: Raising industry awareness and mobilizing its members to advocate solutions at the local, state and federal levels.
  • Standardization of Safety: Adopting uniform codes and licensing requirements across all states in order to protect consumers and ensure qualified professionals.
  • Step Into Swim Expanded: PHTA’s Step Into Swim initiative will increase access to swimming classes for children, which will contribute to a decrease in drowning rates.
  • Building Strategic Partnerships : Working with industry alliances, allied organizations, and philanthropic organisations to support community initiatives and amplify the voice of industry.

The plan aims to foster excellence and promote industry leadership.

  • The pool and hot-tub industry offers rewarding career opportunities. Attract talented individuals who are career-minded to strengthen the workforce.
  • Setting professional standards that are in line with best practices and ensure safety, quality, integrity, and consistency for every project.
  • Increase consumer awareness about the benefits of using pools, spas, hot tubs and other water features, as well as the importance of hiring professionals who are certified and member companies that are accredited to build and maintain these water features.
  • Expanding the number PHTA Chapters to provide networking opportunities and regionally-focused educational opportunities for members to strengthen local businesses.
