Pool Automation Technology Spotlight – The Attendant

The introduction of Poolside Tech‘s The Attendant universal control system in New Hope PA has markedly improved pool automation technology. Cloud-based automation is changing the way pool owners are managing their pool equipment, energy consumption, and water quality.

The Attendant’s ability to continuously monitor pool equipment of any manufacturer as well as the water temperature and quality is one of its most notable features. This allows it to determine the best energy-efficient method to get the pool ready to use. The Attendant is able to communicate and integrate with any type of pool equipment, so it’s a universal control system. It eliminates the requirement for multiple controllers to control different components. This simplifies the automation process, and provides a seamless user experience.

Vendor Agnostic Pool Automation System

This vendor-agnostic system, developed by Poolside Tech is designed to integrate seamlessly with “Big 3” manufacturers of pool equipment, offering a comprehensive solution for owners. This innovative system optimizes energy consumption of the entire system by intelligently coordinating the individual capabilities and features of each pool equipment such as pump, heating, filters, etc. to ensure maximum efficiency.

We spoke to Stan Reznik, Chief Technology Officer at Poolside Tech . The Attendant is manufactured by Poolside Tech.

Pool Automation Technology Spotlight – The Attendant by Poolside Tech

“I believe that the value proposition will be the easiest to address. This product was created because it was impossible for a homeowner, builder or service technician to choose and select the components they wanted. Reznik said that the goal was to give consumers this choice.

“Unfortunately, automation is only compatible with certain manufacturers’ equipment. Reznik explained that they wanted to create a system in which you could choose your favorite products, no matter what type of product.

The Attendant goes beyond automation

The Attendant software is more than just automation. It has an interface, and it uses applied intelligence to communicate with homeowners and service providers. The Attendant’s software gives pool owners complete control of their pool operation and maintenance. It also provides valuable data and insight for service providers who can monitor and optimize the pool performance.

Energy Saving Capabilities

‘s Attendant has many powerful features, including energy-saving abilities. The system will ask users to enter their current energy rates or use a national average as a default. The Attendant then analyzes the performance of every component and reports energy consumption, costs, and device types for electricity and gas. The Attendant allows pool owners the ability to track energy costs and usage in real time, allowing them to make informed decisions and identify potential energy saving areas.

“We’ve done it with pumps, lighting, and salt systems. We will support everyone’s heaters and chillers. Reznik said that we are introducing new features into valves.

Smart Pool Technology

Pool contractors will also be attracted by the real-time notifications. The Attendant can send alerts if filters are dirty, if pipes are blocked, if pumps are not working, a low water level is detected, faulty valves or faulty salt cells.

The Attendant’s ability to use weather forecasts, pool performance data and pool history to predict when the HVAC system should be activated is one of its most unique features.

Imagine it as a Google Maps analogy, where you tell Google only where you want it to go and it is the software’s responsibility to figure out how it can get there. We do something similar. The system will simply respond to your request. For example, you can say “I want to swim and I want my spa at 102 degrees at 6 p.m. Tuesday.” It will awaken hours before the scheduled time, check the weather forecast, and make intelligent decisions on how to get from where you are now to where you wish to be,” Reznik said.

The Automation of Pool Maintenance is More Efficient

The Attendant automatically adjusts the HVAC system of the pool to maintain the desired temperatures by taking into consideration factors such as ambient heat, wind speed and UV index. The Attendant can save energy by avoiding unnecessary heat, and also provide a comfortable swimming experience for the homeowner.

The Attendant’s fully integrated chemistry system simplifies pool maintenance and saves energy. The Attendant can automatically dispense chemicals and monitor the water quality with pH or ORP sensors. It eliminates manual work and guesswork required to maintain a pool, and ensures that the water remains safe for swimming.

The Attendant is also the only automation system available on the market to be NSF-50-listed for a Water Monitoring Controller. It means it meets the strict standards set forth by the International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials Laboratories (IAMPO). This certification gives pool owners peace of mind, knowing that the water in their pools is monitored and controlled according to the highest standards for safety and quality.

Smarter Water Management

The next step would be to have a system to dispense CO2, liquid chlorine, or acid to control PH. Reznik explained that we can also do this. If you have the classic setup, where you have separate automation and chemical controllers, then what happens is that when you reach a certain pH level, it will go into dosing mode. It is completely unaware that the spa jets may be on and that you could possibly be in the spa. It will start dosing you with acid while you are in the spa, giving you an acid bath. The attendant will say, “We understand there is a need to lower your pH but this is not the perfect time.”

The Attendant offers a variety of customizable and convenient access control features. The “Airbnb Mode” of the Attendant allows pool owners and guests to give limited access to pool users. Users can create profiles that restrict access to specific pool features, and limit the maximum temperature to reduce energy consumption.

The Attendant has a user-friendly interface that can be accessed via a smartphone. This makes it easy and convenient to manage pool automation while on the move. This type of pool automation allows home owners to monitor their energy consumption and water quality and receive notifications from anywhere.

One Giant Step Forward

The Attendant is a major leap forward in the field of pool automation. It offers advanced features like energy-saving abilities, personalized recommendations and remote access. In addition, it has been NSF 50 listed for monitoring and controlling water quality. The Attendant offers pool owners a hassle-free, energy-efficient experience. It elevates customer experience and sets new standards for pool automation.

The technological advances of The Attendant can be a great benefit to pool builders. By offering The Attendant as part of their pool installation package, pool builders can differentiate themselves in the market by providing a cutting-edge and environmentally-friendly solution to their customers. The Attendant’s energy-saving capabilities and water-quality monitoring capabilities make it a great selling point for eco-conscious pool users who are searching for efficient and sustainable pool automation.
