The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance invites the public to review and comment on any revisions to the PHTA/ICC-2 Standard that governs spa operations and maintenance. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), standards consensus process includes public review.
The second round will last for 30 days. Comments are restricted to revisions that will appear in the November 11, 2022 issue of Standards Action, the ANSI newsletter. The PHTA submitted the PHTA/ICC-2 Standard to its first public review in February this year. That review was completed in March.
This standard covers the operation and maintenance of public swimming pools, spas, or other aquatic venues that are permitted to operate within recreational water quality standards. Other standards address the design and construction of public swimming pools and other aquatic venues. This standard does not apply to residential pools or other water-containing amenities that are not intended for swimming, bathing, wading, or any other purpose.
Owners and operators of public swimming pools, spas and aquatic venues can use the PHTA/ICC-2 Standard for operation and maintenance of all types public aquatic venues. It can also be adopted by local and state authorities to create codes and standards. This standard can be used by industry stakeholders such as water park operators, commercial pool and spa service providers, and public pool operators to establish minimum standards for operating and maintaining public swimming pools.
The PHTA invites pool, spa and hot tub professionals as well as others to review the Standards Action revisions and make comments. On November 11, 2022, the ANSI Standard Action will publish the public review announcement. It details the 30-day period for public review. All public comments regarding the PHTA/ICC-2 Standard must be submitted by December 11, 2022.
