Reynolds started his journey to developing the app by building a swimming pool. He was a seasoned software developer and entrepreneur. While building his pool, he discovered that communication was poor. As a consumer, it felt like I should have a better connection. Reynolds stated that this was the reason Reynolds got involved in creating this project.
Frustrations with the Pool Building Process
Reynolds felt that he knew exactly what to expect prior to construction started, but that once it got underway, Reynolds felt the need for more communication. There were communication gaps when we got to construction. They often use subcontractors and their availability can be as quick as a matter of minutes. Reynolds described the frustrations and said that they would be unannounced at your house to help with the pool.
Reynolds said that his dog had been let outside a few times. He then added that he thought of a way to put the dogs out. I asked my builder if he had an app that I could use. Next, I asked if anyone had an app. ‘”
Reynolds explained that Reynolds has been building pools for 25+ years and is an industry expert. He said he didn’t know anything about the customer. This really got my creative juices going and led me to believe I should take on this project as a passion project for me and him. It was my idea to share the experience with other customers, so that they can benefit from what I had built.
Reynold’s builder saw the potential in what they had created in a very short time and showed it to his Pentair dealer. Reynolds was then invited to show it to the Pentair senior leadership team. Reynolds explained that he was invited to attend the International Pool & Spa Expo and show it to them. ‘”
Reynolds began his local work with pool builders in Texas and word spread quickly. “Once we were out there, we knew we had something. This product is in high demand. Reynolds explained that Reynolds started to work with local builders and it just grew from there.”
Communicating is the #1 challenge for pool builders
Reynolds stated that communication is the greatest challenge for pool builders. This includes managing customer expectations and inner office communications. Pentair Pool Builder addresses this gap. Simple Pool Construction Management
Reynolds said that Reynolds was able to tailor the pool construction management experience for a wide range of contractors, which helped in creating a universal tool. It’s completely customizable. Their pool construction process may differ from that of someone else. He explained that they can customize the experience to suit their needs.
Reynolds said that the construction module of the software “essentially orchestrates the production of a swimming pool,” from the time it is excavated to the time it is filled with water. The software allows for the scheduling of resources and manages all the processes. Notifications are available to notify people when it is their turn to do the job and to let others know what is happening at the job site.
Reynolds explained that the integration of camera monitoring in the software system will also reduce the windshield time between job site visits. “Typically project managers have to drive from job to job to inspect things. It was possible for them to work remotely once we added the job site monitoring capability. They can now cover more jobs in one day than they could if they drove around checking on the jobs.
