Whoever said to spend the extra time on designing your personal spaces had the right idea. This home in Singapore is nothing short of spectacular and blends the natural environment with the surrounding living spaces for a sprawling multi- generational family home. No detail is left unattended, making the home a place you might never want to leave.

Designed by Singapore studio Chang Architects and a winner in Architizer’s 2016 A+Awards, the project expands many stories, but it all looks out on a central courtyard at the basement level. Overlooking a lush green space with plants ingrained in the design of this home, the courtyard features a pool, a waterfall and a Koi carp pond for the family to enjoy.

“The family and nature share the same breathing space,” says the studio in a statement to Dezeen. “Plants, water bodies, and living spaces are integrated as one.”

The home as a whole was designed with a large family in mind, with enough space for expansions if the children were to marry. Complete with six bedrooms, a gym, entertainment space, a library and multiple dining areas, the water features aren’t the only breathtaking part of this project.

But every architectural endeavor like this one needs a focal point — a centerpiece. Since the rooms are arranged in the shape of a horseshoe, the eye naturally gets drawn to the spaces below, where the waterfall can be heard throughout the home.

Surrounding the swimming pool is a large lounge with a wine cellar along one side, making the space look cohesive and blend together rather than stand apart as two separate entities. Within the pool itself is a dry, sunken seating area with a tree planted in the center to further the sensation of living among nature.

Other things that make this pool area unique are the dining and kitchen areas, which are only reached via bridge over the water. In a stunning and collaborative approach, the architects have created a home that blends the natural with the man-made, giving its owners the perfect oasis, the perfect getaway — just a few feet from their beds.
