Just in time for pool servicing season this spring, the Neptune variable speed line of motors from Nidec/U.S. MOTORS will be available with software that communicates with the major pool/spa control systems on the market. The company says that this will eliminate the need to carry inventory from multiple manufacturers. Pool and spa service professionals can view demonstrations of how the new software easily integrates the Neptune motor to pool controls at the NESPA Pool & Spa Show, Booth #2455.
“With this new Neptune software, service pros no longer have to worry about whether they have a motor on the truck that is compatible with their customers’ pool control system.,” says Jim Ellis, marketing director for Nidec’s pool & spa business. “The new software works on virtually any pool, making it a critical product to have on hand.”
Ellis adds that the Neptune motor line meets new Department of Energy (DOE) regulations that take effect in September, 2025, for all new and replacement pool pump motors.
“Neptune is the only motor you will need going forward,” he says. “It offers the benefits of working as a standalone motor, it can connect to time clocks and has the ability to communicate with automation.”
In addition to the new software demonstration, visitors to the Nidec booth at NESPA can view a time clock connectivity demonstration, showing how Neptune motors can work with customers’ existing time clocks and select automation for worry-free operation.
Featured at the NESPA show this year is the new, patented Neptune Hybrid which features two motors: a high-efficiency brushless permanent magnet (BPM) motor integrated with a control and a standard PSC induction motor. The BPM is capable of variable speed levels from 600 to 2,760 RPMs, ideal for circulating the water in residential pools. At 3,450 RPMs, the PSC motor activates, providing extra power needed for vacuuming the pool.
The Hybrid is a lower cost, lower power motor that offers significant energy savings for homeowners. As an example, when operating at 50 percent of speed, the motor uses only 12 to 14 percent of the full speed power. The Neptune Hybrid also meets proposed efficiency regulations from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) which take effect in September, 2025.
Nidec staff can also share with booth visitors the benefits of the new Neptune 3.45, designed for large residential pools and featuring a powerful variable speed motor with integrated controls for energy efficiency and easy operation. As with the entire Neptune line, this new motor will integrate with many new or existing pumps, bringing variable speed capabilities to the pump and meeting DOE efficiency requirements for the current pump rule as well as the upcoming 2025 motor rule.
Other Nidec/U.S. MOTORS products that will be highlighted at NESPA include the Neptune 1.65 THP (total horsepower) square flange variable speed motor. New and replacement pool and spa motors from U.S. MOTORS are available exclusively through pool industry professionals and distributors. Find out more at usmotors.com/pool-and-spa.
