After almost a decade of planning, the Town of Riverview has created plans and updated costs for a recreation centre that will house a swimming pool, walking track and field house.
MJMA Architecture and Design and Acre Architects designed the design concept for the facility measuring 5,588m 2 (60.149-sf). It will be constructed on the site of Mill Creek Nature Park and close to Bridgedale Boulevard. The aquatic centre proposed will include an 8-lane, 25-m-long pool with a leisure pool. This pool is intended to replace the city’s Pat Crossman Memorial Swimming Centre.
The cost of building the centre is between $37 and $45 million.
The city hopes to receive funding through the Investing Canada Infrastructure Fund to cover 60 percent of the costs.
