Authorities in Madison County, North Carolina reported that a pool contractor was arrested for theft by deception and operating under a false license. He also had a forged document.

A report by News 19 claims that the contractor has been accused of swindling numerous clients, taking deposits upfront for pool installation and not completing the work. Authorities in Madison County tracked down the contractor and alleged that he had swindled innocent victims out of thousands of dollars.

In the report, it is also stated that the company operated by the accused filed for bankruptcy in November with liabilities listed at nearly $1.5 Million. In 2022, the contractor filed for bankruptcy under a different company’s name. Clients were left with unfinished jobs. The same contractor has also been investigated in Limestone and Morgan counties.

According to the same report dozens of victims have also come forward after the scheme was revealed a month ago.

A customer who was victimized by this scam expressed the hope that other people would not fall prey to similar scams. She stressed the importance of raising public awareness and holding fraudulent contractors accountable.
