After a year of a dilapidated outdoor pool being shut down, the city hall in London, Ont., is developing a plan to reopen it by summer 2023.

The necessary structural repairs to the Glen Cairn Pool were quite large in scale. The lack of availability of specialized contractors to manage those repairs has caused the pool’s prolonged closure.

According to CTV News London, the city council initially said it was too early to comment on when the pool would reopen. However, at council committee meeting, held at start of February 2023, the staff revealed the development of a plan to open the pool.

“Hopefully some good news about Glen Cairn Pool [is] that we will be able to update council and the community on a potential opening for this summer,” says Cheryl Smith, the deputy city manager of neighbourhood and community-wide cervices to the committee.

The city’s staff report on Glen Cairn Pool is forecasted to be presented to council in March 2023.
