To breathe life back into the backyard of this Hamilton century home, Betz Pools Ltd., designed and installed a 4- x 8-m (13- x 26-ft) knife-edge, perimeter-overflow pool.
The pool was set perfectly flush with the deck to create the appearance of a sheet of glass. The black flagstone deck, which aligns perfectly with the pool’s overflow edge, not only co-ordinates with the home’s upper terrace, but contrasts beautifully with the pool’s premium white exposed aggregate interior. The owner wanted an auto cover, which posed a challenge with the pool’s knife-edge design. This was resolved by installing a unique cover which rolls up in a bunker beneath the pool and unrolls through a narrow slot across the deep end to float up the wall and across the surface of the pool.
