According to a report by the county’s hazardous materials authorities, an explosion at a home in Anderson County in South Carolina was caused when residents tried to mix pool chemicals in a container.
According to a report by Fox Carolina hazmat experts, the explosion was caused by an exothermic reaction of chemicals, which released both heat and pressurized.
WYFF’s s reported on how the release and dispersal of hazardous chlorine gas spread chemicals in the kitchen. Residents fled to their pool in order to get rid of any chemical residue.
According to the Fox Carolina, the three residents suffered non-life threatening injuries. They were treated on-site by EMS and then taken to hospital for further care. The hazmat team has confirmed that the situation is resolved and the home is not affected.
