Hot Tub Cover Legislation is Signed into Law

span style=” -webkit-text_size-adjust 100 Governor Kathy Hochul of New York signed AB8646 into Law on November 23. This law allows spa and hot tub owners to meet state barrier requirements by using ASTM 1346 compliant safety cover. This requirement is identical to the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, (ISPSC), and the next editions of the International Property Maintenance Code.

span style=” -webkit-text_size-adjust 100 The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance, the International Hot Tub Association and the Northeast Spa & Pool Association played a key role in passing this law. These associations met with representatives from the New York-based PHTA’s public affairs firm and with Governor Hochul, Andrew Cuomo (previous governor), New York Department of State regulators and legislators about this topic. All parties agreed that a legislative change was necessary.

“This is a significant win for spa owners and the industry.” This is a major win for spa owners .”
