Gold Medal Pools Acquires West Side Pools & Service

Gold Medal Pools, one of the largest pool service, design, construction and renovation companies in the country, has acquired West Side Pools & Service, a Fort Worth–based company founded more than four decades ago by Guy Wood. The acquisition brings together two established Texas names built on family culture, craftsmanship, and lasting customer relationships. It marks the next chapter for a national industry evolving around service, technology and scale. Although the Construction Market continues to contract, Gold Medal continues to grow and gain organic market share. This is largely attributed to their People, their Customers, and their Strategy. The move positions Gold Medal to serve a broader mix of homeowners and commercial properties that value quality, convenience and trusted local expertise.

Under the agreement, West Side Pools & Service will retain its name and leadership, with Wood continuing as a leader and ambassador for the brand. The West Fort Worth showroom will be GMP’s 5th Location in DFW, expanding coverage from Sherman to South Dallas and from Weatherford to Rockwall while preserving the company’s local identity. The move strengthens regional access while maintaining deep roots in Tarrant County and a long-standing reputation for quality and service excellence.

“Guy built a company that people in Fort Worth genuinely trust,” says Josh Sandler, Chief Executive Officer of Gold Medal Pools. “It’s a great honor that he chose to pair his legacy with ours, and we don’t take that lightly. Legacy planning for a successful Founder is often something that is overlooked or kicked down the road. Kudos to Guy for having the foresight and courage to setup his customers and employees for success for decades to come. We’re combining over a century of expertise with the scale and resources to make pool ownership and maintenance easier, smarter, and more consistent across the Country. The strength of our team has given us the confidence to lean in and invest when much of the industry is pulling its horns in. We look forward to improving the employee and customer experience with our proven process, technology, and culture. We expect this to be the first of several exciting announcements for Gold Medal in the coming months.”

Together, the organizations bring nearly a century of combined experience and loyal customers to Gold Medal’s base. The partnership also accelerates investment in workforce development, technology, and client support; advancing a model of pool ownership that prioritizes reliability, personalization, and ease of care.

“After nearly 50 years in the pool industry, it means a lot to see West Side’s legacy carried forward by a company that truly understands our roots,” says Guy Wood, President of West Side Pools & Service. “Gold Medal shares the same values we built this business on quality, integrity and long-term relationships. This partnership allows us to keep serving customers with the personal attention they’ve come to expect, while gaining the support and scale to take service and construction to the next level. It’s the right move at the right time.”

Texas’s pool and outdoor-living sector represents an $8 billion segment of the state’s home-improvement economy and continues to expand alongside population growth and housing investment. Renovation and service now drive the majority of category growth nationwide, as homeowners prioritize upgrades and long-term maintenance. Gold Medal’s disciplined acquisition strategy positions the company to capture that growth while preserving the local craftsmanship and customer focus that remain central to its brand.
