Fluidra, an equipment and pool company, held a week-long celebration from October 23-27 to celebrate the International Day of Climate Action. The initiative was designed to increase climate change awareness, decrease carbon footprints and promote eco-friendly practices.

Fluidra, a global company, planted over 25,000 trees last year. This offset 3,641 tonnes (3,303 tons) of CO2 for each variable-speed pump sold during Climate Action Week. The company has expanded its reforestation program this year to include cartridge filters. Fluidra will provide a tree for every VSP or cartridge sold worldwide between October 23 and 27.

Fluidra’s commitment towards sustainability goes beyond this event. They promote more efficient solutions such as automatic covers for pools. Water loss from evaporation can be reduced by up to 94% with Cover-Pools (r), a Fluidra product. This could save up to 24440 gallons of water per year. These covers reduce chemical usage by 60%, which promotes a healthier pool experience.

Fluidra has a line of 22 ENERGY STAR-certified pool pumps that optimize energy efficiency up to 62 percent. LED lighting, which reduces electricity consumption by up to 87%, is also a sustainable option.

Lennie Rhoades is president of Fluidra North America. He says, “This promotion is a good example of the simple steps that our industry can take in order to reduce its impact on the environment and keep our industry growing.”
