Florida Swims Foundation and Every Child A Swimmer renew partnership to provide swim lessons to Florida children

(SARASOTA FL) – The Florida Swims Foundation (FSF) and Every Child A Swimmer(ECAS) have renewed their partnership in order to offer swim lessons to Florida children.

In February 2023, the two organizations signed an MOU indicating their commitment to working together to teach swimming to children. This collaboration has as its collective goal to reduce drownings, increase awareness of water safety and provide funding for swim lessons in underserved areas.

Ben Evans, the President of Florida Swims Foundation said: “The partnership between the Florida Swims Foundation & Each Child A Swimmer shows how both our organizations are committed to providing free swim lessons for children throughout the state.” Together, we will improve the swimming literacy in our communities and make Florida’s children more resilient.

Donations are made through the Florida Swims Foundation to Every

Child A Swimmer will match 100% of your donation. ECAS distributes funds once the donations have been received to approved swim lesson providers in the state.

“Our children should be able to learn and grow in both the water and on land, so that they are not only safe but also well-rounded.”

The Florida Swims Foundation, since its founding in 2004, has donated more than $260,000 towards the provision of swim lessons to Florida communities. The Foundation is a 501(c),(3) of the Florida Swimming Pool Association, ( FSPA), an industry trade association that has 750 members in 16 chapters.

Elizabeth McMurray is the Executive Director of Florida Swimming Pool Association. She said that it was an important part of their values to share health and safety information with all pool builders, operators and users. “We are delighted that ECAS and the Foundation are able continue this fruitful relationship and have a positive impact in our state.”

Every Child A Swimmer will provide $550,000 in 2022 to help children from low income families receive swim lessons. ECAS is a fundraising arm of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, whose mission it is to educate and train every child on water safety.

The Florida Swims Foundation, formerly known as Swimming Pool Education and Safety Foundation, is a nonprofit organization that provides swimming lessons to children in the entire state. This is done through a partnership between Every Child A Swimmer and the Florida Swims Foundation. The Foundation offers scholarships to dependents of members through the Margaret M. Brown Scholarship Fund.

The International Swimming Hall of Fame and Every Child a Swimmer are non-profit foundations whose mission it is to promote swimming, water safety and drowning prevention. They also want to improve the health of the public and inspire them to learn to swim. Swimming is a life-skill that should be accessible to all. We provide grants through our Every Child A Swimmer program (ECAS) to swim schools in needy communities, and we advocate for life-saving legislation at the national level.

The Florida Swimming Pool Association (FSPA) is a Florida-based trade association that represents the industry of pools and spas. Around 750 businesses are members of the 16 chapters located throughout Florida. Members must adhere to a code and be licensed and insured.

FSPA offers the industry access to continuing education, information about current issues and trends, an arbitration program, and representation in government relations. FSPA is governed and managed by a board of directors.
