A chemical fire at Texas Pool Supply prompted an emergency response and a shelter-in-place order for part of Frisco, Texas, on Wednesday morning. The 3-alarm fire broke out at the pool chemical supply warehouse located on John W. Elliott Drive, near All Stars Avenue, around 8 a.m. The Little Elm Fire Department was first on the scene, with additional mutual aid provided by fire departments from The Colony, Plano, Prosper, and McKinney.
Hazmat units were called in due to the hazardous nature of the chemicals involved in the fire. Three chemicals—pool salt, chlorine, and pool shock—were involved in the fire. Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer Kelly Kistner confirmed that two of these chemicals are classified as hazardous during a press conference. Fortunately, all employees inside the warehouse at the time managed to evacuate safely. However, two Frisco firefighters were hospitalized for smoke inhalation but are expected to recover.
The city issued a shelter-in-place notice for nearby buildings, including Medical City Frisco, Toyota Stadium, and several apartment complexes. The notice was lifted at 9:18 a.m. after the fire was contained and air quality monitoring showed no harmful levels of contamination. Crews from the public works department worked to manage water runoff, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is expected to investigate further. Some roads in the area remain closed as the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Although now contained, this morning’s fire is potentially a devastating setback for Heritage Pool Supply Group, which had recently launched the Texas Pool Supply brand back in June of 2022. The 50,000 sq. ft. Frisco facility is the flagship location for the brand, containing a warehouse, showroom, and training space.
