Canadian backyard leisure products group transitioning through big changes

VODA Backyard Leisure Group (VODA), a Burlington-based backyard leisure products business, received an investment from Canadian private equity firm, Fulcrum Capital Partners (Fulcrum), making the two companies partners.

VODA is composed of three businesses:

  • Aquiform Distributors, a distributor to the pool, spa, and patio furniture industry.
  • Club Piscine, a franchisor and distributor, servicing the retail needs of an extensive network of franchises selling pools, garden furniture, barbecues, spas, and fitness equipment.
  • Pool Supplies Canada, an online retail platform for pool and spa supplies.

“Partnering with Fulcrum has enabled VODA to bring together the leading Canadian businesses in the backyard leisure market,” says Terry Martyniuk, CEO of VODA. “We are excited to grow the platform across all business units while enhancing our product and service offerings to our customers.”

Canadian backyard leisure products group transitioning through big changes: Paul Eldridge, partner at Fulcrum, says, “The businesses that comprise VODA, and the management teams behind each, have a tremendous track record and long history of success. We are delighted to have partnered with management and support the next chapter of growth.”

Quite recently, the distribution business under VODA, Pioneer Distribution Inc., was given a new name, Aquiform, which is Greek for “form of water.”

The business’s eastern side will be managed by the same team as before, without any changes or disruptions to the product and service offerings. The eastern and western sides are also seeing a leadership change with the appointment of Julie Pelletier as vice president of business development and purchasing for all Aquiform operations.
