BioLab to Open Community Assistance Center for Local Residents and Business Owners

CONYERS, Georgia – The Unified Command today announced that BioLab will open a Community Assistance Center to provide support for local residents and business owners affected by the fire at the Conyers facility, as part of BioLab’s ongoing efforts to expand services for the local community. These efforts are coordinated with the Unified Command response team’s active work to remediate the situation at BioLab’s facility. The Unified Command includes representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, Rockdale County, and BioLab.

New Community Assistance Center Details:

●Location: 927 North Main Street NW, Conyers, GA 30012
●Hours of Operation: Opening Tuesday, October 15, 2024: Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
●Services Provided: Residents and business owners will be able to make claims and reimbursement appointments, and get assistance with general information and inquiries.
●Appointments: Appointments can be scheduled on BioLabCommunityResources.com. A limited number of walk-in appointments are available each day, on a first come, first served basis. If you need assistance scheduling an appointment on BioLab’s website, please call BioLab’s hotline at (678) 301-2359, and an operator will be able to help you make an appointment.

“Our priority is ensuring that the local community has access to all necessary resources in the wake of this event,” said Deputy Chief Jimmy Robinson from Rockdale County Fire Rescue. “BioLab has told us they will do whatever it takes—for as long as it takes—to support our community. To that end, this center will serve as a resource for residents, providing financial
assistance, answering questions, and providing the support our community needs during this time.”

Ongoing Response and Safety Measures:

●Air Quality Monitoring: The EPA continues to monitor air quality in the area, and the data is available to the public in real-time. The public may access the latest air quality information at EPA Air Monitoring. Chlorine levels have decreased, but residents are still advised to avoid areas where odors are present.
●Shelter-in-Place Orders: While the shelter-in-place order has been lifted for most areas, it remains in effect within a two-mile radius around the BioLab facility. Residents within this zone should remain indoors with windows and doors closed, and HVAC systems turned off.
●Debris Clean-Up: BioLab is offering free debris removal services for residents who have fire-related debris on their properties. To schedule debris removal, please email [email protected].

Additional Resources:

●24/7 Community Hotline: Local residents and businesses can reach out to BioLab’s 24/7 call center for information or to submit claims. The hotline number is (678) 301-2359.
●Online Community Support Portal: Residents can also find the latest updates, resources, and information on ways BioLab is supporting the community at www.BioLabCommunityResources.com.

The Unified Command is committed to keeping the community informed. Updates will be provided regularly through the Unified Command’s website: www.biolabconyersresponse.com.
