The reopening of Port Hardy’s indoor pool has been postponed until January because the system dehumidifier is still having issues. This was the original cause for the delay.

According to a report in North Island Gazette earlier this year, the reopening had been scheduled for mid-December. This was also reported in Pool & Spa Marketing News item. However, now the dehumidification system is expected to arrive during the second week in December. Contractors are working quickly to install it along with the pool membrane. The dehumidification unit is expected to arrive in the second week of December, with contractors working quickly to install it alongside the pool membrane.

In the North Island Gazette, it is stated that testing, certification, permits, and final inspection will be completed by early January. The district will keep you updated on the progress of the project. Port Hardy’s Mayor, Pat Corbett Labatt, is hoping for a completion date before the end January, but can not provide a precise date. She stresses the importance of a pool, particularly for teaching swimming in a community that is close to saltwater and freshwater.
