B.C. After being denied funding, district decides to revive its indoor pool

District of Port Hardy in British Columbia had originally planned to replace its pool, which is now over 40 years old, with a multiplex. However, after being denied funding from the federal and provincial governments, it decided to go ahead with a “Pool Revitalization Project”.

Since Jun., the pool has been shut down. The pool was closed in June 2021 when it was shut down to repair. Since then, no action has been taken to bring it back online. It announced via social media that the district was “committed” to bringing back the pool for everyone to enjoy.

The district informed about the issuance and award of the tender for the pool-liner in late September 2022. The liner will arrive in December, which is close to the end of this calendar year. To make the pool ready to receive the liner, there will be a lot of work before this happens.
