Aquatic Leisure Technologies Group (ALT), one of Australia’s largest and most innovative fiberglass swimming pool manufacturers, is proud to announce the establishment of its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Opp, Alabama. The facility spans 56,000 square feet on 22 acres, marking a significant milestone in ALT’s continued expansion across the United States.

The site will serve as the U.S. manufacturing home of Aqua Technics Pools – ALT’s world-renowned pool brand and the flagship line that will be promoted across the North American market. Aqua Technics Pools has earned global recognition for design, technology, and performance, and was recently awarded SPASA Australian Business of the Year, solidifying its position as a leader in the swimming pool industry.

Governor Kay Ivey welcomed the company’s decision to invest in Alabama. “We are thrilled to welcome Aquatic Leisure Technologies to Opp, Alabama. Their decision to build here underscores the strength of our state’s pro-business climate, our talented workforce, and our commitment to fostering world-class manufacturing. This facility will not only create quality jobs, but it will also help boost the local economy in Covington County. That’s what ‘Made in Alabama’ is all about — innovation, investment, and opportunity for all.”

Since entering the U.S. market in 2018, ALT has experienced sustained growth, previously supplying distributors and dealers directly from its Australian operations. The Opp facility will now localize production, improve delivery times, and support the company’s expanding dealer and distributor network across the country.

“Establishing a manufacturing presence in the United States is a natural progression for our business,” said President Lynley Papineau. “After two years of searching for the right property and the right community to call home, Opp, Alabama provides the ideal location—offering a strong local workforce, supportive community and excellent infrastructure that will help to facilitate our long-term vision for growth.”

City of Opp Mayor Chance McCurley stated, “Today marks an exciting milestone for the City of Opp. Aquatic Leisure Technologies’ decision to build its first U.S. manufacturing facility right here in our community is the result of teamwork and a shared vision,” he said.

“We want to extend our sincere thanks to Jacob Morgan with the Covington County Economic Development Commission for his leadership throughout this process, as well as Adam Metcalfe of Metcalfe & Company, Inc., whose expertise as the commercial and industrial realtor was instrumental in securing this site.  This announcement reflects what is possible when local, county, and state partners work together. We are excited to welcome Aquatic Leisure Technologies to Opp and look forward to the new opportunities and long-term growth this project will bring to our community.”

The facility will manufacture ALT’s premium brand Aqua Technics Pools, produced using the company’s globally recognized patented technologies, including PoolColourGuard® and Graphene Nano-Tech®. These innovations deliver unmatched surface durability, color retention, and structural performance – core strengths that have positioned Aqua Technics Pools as a global industry leader.

Commissioning is now underway, with initial production targeted for early 2026. The project will create new local employment opportunities as ALT builds and trains a U.S.-based manufacturing team. In the short term, key Australian specialists will support the facility setup and technology transfer to ensure that operations in the United States meet the company’s strict global manufacturing standards.

ALT also acknowledges the significant support received throughout this process. “We are deeply appreciative of the backing provided by the State of Alabama, particularly the Department of Commerce, AIDT, as well as the City of Opp and the Covington County Economic Development Commission,” Lynley added. “Their commitment and collaboration have been instrumental in bringing this project to life.”

Covington County Economic Development President Jacob Morgan said ” This is a great win for Opp and for all of Covington County.  Our elected officials made key decisions that helped Aquatic Leisure Technologies choose our area to call home.  We first met them in July of this year and have been working with them every week to get to this day.  These are the type of jobs that truly help families in Covington County.”

“We are committed to investing in American manufacturing and contributing to the region’s economic development,” said Lynley. “In 2026, we will be celebrating our 50th year as a family business. We are incredibly excited to be able to offer more families our world-class pools to create lasting memories.”
