Lac La Biche County, Alberta, has announced that EllisDon and DIALOG have been selected to join the design-build team of its aquatic facility. It is estimated that the facility will cost $27 million. It will be part of the Bold Center multiplex.

The county will use a “progressive build approach.” This involves early collaboration between the owner of the property and one contracting partner to provide both design and construction services. This allows project design to be in line with requirements before moving on to detailed design and construction.

The aquatics facility will be finished by fall 2025. It will feature a leisure and teaching pool, a 6-lane 25-m (82 feet) pool for competitive swimming and a lazy river. Federal and provincial funding totaled $15 million. The county contributed $12 million. Turnbull Construction Project Managers Ltd. was hired to supervise the project.

Paul Reutov, Mayor of Lac La Biche County, expressed excitement over the new facility. He said it will improve the quality of life for all Lac La Biche County residents by offering a safe, comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable place to meet, stay active and interact with other members of the community.

EllisDon and DIALOG are both experienced in similar projects such as the Royal Alberta Museum (RAM), Walterdale Bridge and the Calgary Cancer Centre.
