Fountain Park Recreation Centre in St. Albert (Alberta) is once again closed, only months after its $16.5 Million renovation project that lasted between May 2022 and July 2023.
According to an announcement by the City of St. Albert the pool will close from 5:30 am to 3:45 pm on October 26 due to urgent maintenance of a primary air handling system that was custom-built and installed during the renovation. The problems with the new unit were found during its first operation. During this time, all activities will either be cancelled or rescheduled except for swimming lessons starting at 4 pm.
A complete shutdown may be necessary after extensive diagnostic testing and problem-solving to make the essential adjustments. This will improve the efficiency of the unit and create a stable environment for users.
Alberta Health Services (AHS), the Alberta Health Services, requires that an air handling system be in working order for the aquatics facility to operate. This maintenance was scheduled to minimize any disruptions. The city apologizes for the inconvenience.
