Swimming pool explosion in the U.S.: A swimmer’s account

The woman, who was swimming in a pool at a North Providence fitness centre, Rhode Island when the jacuzzi burst through the floor, tells her story.

In Rhode Island, North Providence Pool & Fitness Center, a hot tub suddenly exploded from the floor. The woman who was swimming in the pool at the time the jacuzzi burst through the floor shared her account.

A report by Fox Rochester states that a fitness centre member was swimming laps when she was surprised by a series loud noises. She initially didn’t pay much attention to them, thinking that she would hear about any important issues. A lifeguard approached her and told her she had to leave the pool immediately. The woman initially thought that the noises were caused by barrels crashing together, but she was unable to understand the cause or reason of the commotion.

A report by WJAR states that when the firefighters arrived on the scene they had no idea what caused the incident.

The fire chief told the reporter that “the Jacuzzi was approximately 4 ft (1.2 m) above its original installation; it was located underground.” “The scene was reminiscent of an earthquake with everything in disarray.”

According to the report of Fox Rochester, the explosion was triggered by an incident related to chlorine involving pipes under the hot tub which had been closed since the pandemic.

The pool, as well as the entire complex, which is run by the municipality, has been closed indefinitely.
