Nidec expands its Neptune(r), pool pump motor line with a new option for large pools

Neptune’s product line now powers pumps for small and large residential swimming pools

ST. LOUIS MO – July 12 2023 – Pool contractors and service providers can now offer their residential customers a full line of energy saving Neptune (r) motors. A 3.45 HP version is also available for larger pools. The Neptune range from Nidec/U.S. The MOTORS(r), a line of variable-speed motors, features integrated controls that are energy efficient and simple to operate.

The Neptune motors can be easily installed and do not require complex wiring. They are designed to run almost all North American brands of pumps for residential in-ground pools. The motors meet the latest requirements of the Department of Energy, California Energy Commission and New York City. They provide motor and control efficiency of 80 percent or more when operated at full speed.

Pool customers can upgrade their old pump motors to a Neptune variable-speed motor and keep the pump they already have, while upgrading it to a more energy efficient product. The motor can be programmed to run at slower speeds and is quieter, which adds to the tranquility of your backyard pool. The motor is quieter than a single-speed motor.

Installing and programming the Neptune variable-speed motor is simple. The Quick Start Guide is located under the lid and provides detailed instructions on how to save energy while filtering the pool. The Neptune is equipped with a run schedule that was installed in the factory. This allows the unit’s operation to be activated by simply setting the time. The pool owner can program up to seven daily schedules, giving them flexibility and the option to save energy while the pool isn’t in use. The Neptune motors can also be operated by a wide range of external controllers, in addition to their onboard interface.

The Neptune is built to last. The finned enclosure provides an IPX5 water ingress level, which allows for a longer life on the field in outdoor conditions. For the IPX5 testing, the motor must be sprayed with water from all angles without any water entering the motor.
