After weeks of transit, the new stainless-steel liner has finally arrived at Port Hardy’s indoor swimming pool. Officials in the district are excited about the liner’s arrival, which means that the pool could be open by the end this year.

Residents will soon be able to see the pool coming together after the district has worked behind the scenes. Pat Corbett-Labatt is the mayor of Port Hardy. He stated that although the pool is far from complete, the next steps are to install the liner, and finish the electrical and mechanical work necessary for the pool.

Although the original plan was to replace the pool, which is now over 40 years old, the district decided to go with a “Pool Revitalization Project” instead to improve the pool. Since June 2021, the pool has been closed to repairs.
