China Claims Title For World’s Highest Outdoor Swimming Pool

China now holds the title of World’s Highest Outdoor Swimming Pool. In Nanning, China, the construction of a new tower measuring 1,322 feet tall by Chicago-based architects Goettsch Partners has now been completed. According to the architects, the tower’s crowning element is its outdoor swimming pool, which is the largest in the world.

Title for Highest Outdoor Pool Goes To China

The hotel’s pool is located on the 71st floor terrace and is 1,060 feet high above the ground. The title was previously held by the Moshe Saffdie’s Marina Bay Sands 57th floor infinity pool.

Guangxi China Resources Tower holds the title of the world’s most beautiful outdoor swimming pool.

At more than 2.93 million square feet the Guangxi China Resources Tower is the tallest building of China, and the 37th highest building in the world. The mixed-use design includes retail, offices, and a hotel.

Offices will occupy more than 60% of the 272,000 square meters of lettable space on the 86-story structure. A Shangri-La Nanning hotel, with 336 rooms, and retail space totaling approximately 6,000 square metres are also planned.

James Zheng (AIA, LEED AP), CEO and president at GP, stated that the building was a symbol for rising prosperity in the city. It also sets a high standard of quality that will endure.

China Resources Land from Shenzhen designed the tower. It will be the central point of a new urban area in Nanning, covering 90 hectares. The structure around the building is linked to its podium and basement.

The hotel’s pool is located on the 71st Floor of Nanning’s massive skyscraper.

The building process began in 2014. It will end by November 2020. After the interior fit-out has been completed, the company claims the building is now fully occupied and functional.

Panoramic Views Uniquely Made

The hotel rises above the office volume, dramatically changing the building’s profile. At Level 71, a massive terrace is built to cap the lower volume. This unique outdoor space allows guests to swim in the hotel pool from the sky. The panoramic 180-degree view offers breathtaking views of the surrounding parks, lakes, and mountains from sunrise to sunset.

This tower is an integral part of larger mixed-use developments. Its design conforms to LEED Gold standards and places emphasis on energy optimization and sustainable sites. The podium and basement levels are connected to create a network that can be used for master-planned developments. The building’s exterior is sunshades, which are combined with a high performance facade enclosure system allow for natural light to flood every level, allowing for breathtaking views and a significant reduction in energy consumption.

The mechanical systems were designed to optimize efficiency, reduce energy consumption and water usage while increasing the comfort level inside the building. To ensure durability and longevity, the highest quality materials are used throughout to minimize the impact of the building on the environment.

In a press release, Travis Soberg, AIA and LEED AP stated that “The tower is a sustainable solution to its urban context.” “The design of the building incorporates conservation techniques throughout, which reinforces our commitment to environmental responsibility.”
