Fluidra pledges to plant a tree every variable speed pump sold between Oct. 24, and Oct. 28, as part its Climate Action Week incentive, to help meet its environmental, governance, and social (ESG) goals.
Fluidra made the pledge to reduce the environmental impact of swimming pools this week, and it is now known worldwide as the International Day of Climate Action (24 Oct).
Although there are many products that can increase the sustainability of a pool, including pool covers, salt and minerals sanitizers and solar and electric heating as well as LED lighting, the company decided to focus on variable-speed pump because they offer 60% more efficiency than traditional single-speed pumps.
Variable-speed pumps are one of the most simple technologies that pool professionals and owners can use to reduce their carbon footprint. Fluidra can offset its carbon emissions by selling pools within the week. Fluidra can also contribute to the reforestation in areas where it operates.
Research by the company found that a single tree can offset 250kg (551 lbs.) of carbon dioxide. a tree can offset up to 250 kgs (551 lbs.) of carbon dioxide (CO 2) during its lifetime.
“Climate Change is a problem that affects all of us, in both our private and professional lives. Fluidra’s executive president Eloi Planes says that we are doing our part by helping to increase sustainability of pools and in the business practices that we employ as a company.”
