Industry Mourns Passing of Pool Designer, Kevin Woodhurst

Kevin Woodhurst, a highly respected figure in the pool and outdoor living industry, passed away recently after a long illness. Woodhurst’s legacy as a master pool designer and his unwavering passion for creating exceptional outdoor spaces have left an indelible mark on the industry. With over 25 years of experience, Kevin’s work at Claffey Pools showcased his unparalleled talent and commitment to excellence.

Throughout his distinguished career, Kevin garnered numerous certifications and awards, solidifying his reputation as one of the leading experts in the pool industry. His designs were known for their innovation and attention to detail, making him a sought-after designer by clients who wanted their outdoor spaces to be not only functional but also works of art.

Despite his long illness, Kevin remained determined to return to the work he loved. Unfortunately, his condition worsened in recent months, but he continued to inspire those around him with his strength and positive outlook. Friends and colleagues alike have shared heartfelt tributes, reflecting on the profound impact he had on their lives, both personally and professionally.

Kevin’s wife, Heather, and their family have been at his side, receiving the community’s outpouring of love and support. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to assist with medical and funeral expenses, and Heather expressed her gratitude for the kindness and encouragement they have received during this difficult time.

Kevin Woodhurst and Mike Farley - Poolside Perspectives Podcast

Mike Farley, co-host of the Poolside Perspectives Podcast, shared his thoughts. “Kevin’s passion for the pool industry was infectious; he wore many hats, managing a pool store, a service company, and a building firm that showcased his incredible design talents. He was the driving force behind the Poolside Perspectives Podcast, encouraging me to create a platform where those in the industry—especially those without a strong support network—could find guidance and resources. Kevin was always eager to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand, embodying the spirit of service over profit. His love for his country was profound, and he took great pride in his service in the Air Force. While I will deeply miss him, I take comfort in knowing he is free from pain. Kevin’s legacy of generosity and passion will continue to inspire us all.”

Marianne Trusty, President of Pool Magazine, remarked, “Kevin was admired not only for his exceptional design work but also for his positive outlook on life and contagious passion. His energy and dedication left an indelible mark on our industry. ”

Head to Head With Pool Designer Kevin Woodhurst

Kevin’s legacy reaches beyond his professional accomplishments, as he reflected in one of his final social media posts:

“What will people say about you when you’re no longer here? How will you be remembered? Leave a legacy as someone who lived life with passion, who was a lover of people, who reached for the stars and grabbed hold of their dreams. A person with a heart of gratitude, someone who made mistakes but learned the lessons. A person who forgave easily, and took responsibility for their actions. Who embraced excellence in a world of mediocrity, and followed their heart. Someone that made a difference, who stood for integrity, and whose light shone brightly in the darkness. Life is short. Seize the day. Appreciate every moment.”
