The new $32-million Mundy Park Pool in Coquitlam, B.C., previously scheduled to open in 2023, is now facing construction delays, pushing its opening to 2025.

The project involves a complete renovation of the existing 1972-built Spani outdoor swimming pool, which spans 25 m (82 ft) and has eight lanes. The project includes construction of a new additional secondary pool, including a shallow beach entry, splash area, and lazy river.

Other features include a new hot whirlpool, improved facilities for events such as competitions, including expanded deck spaces for spectator seating, a lawn area for lounging, and a concession space.

Additionally, the upgraded design will incorporate accessible universal change rooms, accessible universal year-round Mundy Park public washrooms, a multipurpose room for workshops and training, and an improved drop-off and pick-up area.

The project is supported by the federal and provincial governments with $4.4 million in combined funding.
