The City of Calgary is gradually easing its outdoor water restrictions after a major water main break last month triggered a local state of emergency and forced officials to curtail water use in the city.
Per a report by The Canadian Press, washing windows, cars, and using sprinklers is still off limits, but with hot weather soon expected, public outdoor pools and spray parks can now reopen.
Calgary has been under Stage 3 water restrictions since July 6, which only allows for activities such as hand watering from a watering can, watering new sod or grass seed, and water use for construction purposes and home renovation projects.
Businesses are allowed to use potable water for construction, including for dust control. Soon, public pools will reopen as well.
The report also states the feeder main is now flowing at 55 per cent water capacity and 82 per cent of normal operating pressure.
