Heritage Pool Supply Group Announces Acquisition of Custom Distribution, Inc.

Heritage Pool Supply Group (“Heritage”) announced it has acquired Custom Distribution, Inc. (“CDI” or the “Company”), a wholesale distributor of pool and spa products. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., CDI was founded in 1967 by partners Harold Grotte and Red Mulvaney and is operated today by Harold’s daughter and her husband, Michelle and Doug Thayer. Bill Gutzwiller, general manager, will continue to lead the company’s dedicated team, ensuring continuity and consistency for customers, suppliers, and employees. Heritage will also rebrand all of its existing Sun Country locations in Minneapolis to the CDI brand immediately after closing.

Matt McDermott, president of Heritage, comments, “We are excited to join forces with Michelle, Doug, Bill, and the entire CDI team. Together they have built a high-quality business, which provides an immediate opportunity for Heritage to expand its presence in the Twin Cities market. We will put all of Heritage’s resources behind the CDI team to unleash their full potential and look forward to being their partner for growth for many years to come.”

Michelle Thayer, owner of CDI, says, “We are thrilled to become part of the growing Heritage family. We have developed a great amount of respect for the Heritage operating model and the way that they do business by always putting people and customers first. We have had opportunities to partner with others over the years, but we felt the Heritage team cared the most about our employees and would do the best job at preserving our family’s legacy. Joining up with Heritage is an exciting proposition for our team, and we can’t wait to get started.”
