Ask almost anyone in the pool and spa industry, and you’ll probably get the same response: Once you’re in the industry, no matter the sector, it’s almost impossible to leave. As an industry that largely runs on family-owned businesses and the hard work of every single person involved, a lot goes into making the pool service sector thrive.
With another year ahead of us, it’s clear the drive for excellence has never been stronger, technological advancement continues to push the industry forward, and the same principles ring true: With an honest, hard day’s work, rest assured, pool service will always be a fulfilling career.

Labor & Efficiency
While labor remains a hot topic each year in the pool industry at large, new technologies are changing the playing field for pool service pros. Hands-on experience is still a highly praised method for training, but we’re also seeing a shift with innovations that help increase efficiency on the job. Some find this exciting, but others see it as having little effect, depending on their client demographic.

Looking to the Past and Future
One of the only hard truths of the pool and spa industry is that it, specifically the service sector, inevitably shifts from one year to the next. And as we get deeper into the age of major technological advances and see the long-term effects of a global pandemic on homeowners, the future looks promising, despite a growing concern for increasing prices.
